The E148M is the current model — same job, new shape
Merlin redesigned the E138M and called the result the E148M. It isn’t a discontinuation and it isn’t a downgrade: it’s the same wall-mounted remote, restyled. If your old one has died or you’re adding a second, this is what Merlin makes now and this is what you will receive.
Why this one and not another Merlin wall remote
The E148M is the only Merlin wall remote that codes to both Merlin+ and Merlin+ 2.0 motors. If you have two openers of different vintages — a newer 2.0 on the garage and an older Merlin+ on the shed or the gate — this single unit runs both. No other wall remote in the range does that.
It operates up to four doors or gates from one wall plate, on 434.54MHz rolling code. The code changes with every press, chosen from over a hundred billion, so it can’t be captured and replayed from the driveway.
Which Merlin openers it suits
Confirmed to suit these Merlin+ 2.0 models: CS60EVO Powerlift · CS100EVO Powerlift Plus · MR550EVO Weatherdrive · MR650EVO and MR850EVO Silent Drive · MR655EVO Quietdrive Pro · MR655MYQ Silentdrive Essential · MR855EVO Silentdrive Pro · MR855MYQ Silentdrive Elite · CR625EVO HandyLift Plus 2.0 · CR655MYQ Rollerlift · MJ3800MYQ Commander Ultimate · MS65MYQ Commander.
Plus older Merlin+ motors, thanks to the dual-frequency coding above.
Fitting it
It mounts straight onto a standard wall box, so if you’re replacing an existing wall button the hole is already there and the job is a screwdriver and five minutes. There is no wiring — it’s a battery transmitter, not a hardwired switch. Nobody needs to be called out for this one.
To program this remote to your door motor you will need to access the control panel on the motor. If you’d rather not be up a ladder, tell us your postcode and we’ll recommend an installer near you. This, of course will incur a callout fee to be paid independently to the installer who comes out to assist you.
